Procedures to Track Citizens through the Nomination, Appointment, and Senate Confirmation Steps and Procedures - (this page is under construction - check back regularly) |

The Tracking ProblemThe President makes hundreds of nominations and appointments every year. Tracking the individual persons nominated is a masterpiece of federal bureaucracy. The process practical and necessary in the nature of a controlled and well-managed patronage and power structure - the way we do it under the United States Constitution. But working through the process requires some special attention.
These are the broad steps required from start to finish. Government positions are created by statute by the Congress of the United States, and those bills are approved by the President to make them law. The President through his staff searches for qualified United States citizens to fill those positions. Those candidates are vetted - their backgrounds and ideas are studied for appropriate qualifications, and for problems in their lives that might disqualify them for holding federal office. If qualified, the candidates are submitted to the United States Senate for "advice and consent" to hold the office. This is called the "confirmation" process - the Senate approves, disapproves, or returns the nomination to the President. If the Senate confirms the nominee, the person is sworn into office and serves either a certain number of years as provided in the original law that created the job, or they serve "At the Pleasure of the President" and can be fired by the President at any time without explanation. Most of the appointments of the President and his administration do not require the Senate to consider the a nomination. The President and his staff usually vet the candidates for appointment carefully, but the scrutiny of the Senate is not included in those appointment procedures.

The are small emails - but with reference links for resumes of nominees, or other information which you may want to see. Send an email to Director@Presidential-Appointments.org with the word "subscribe" in the subject line.
